Since 2004 MIM has trained over 500 mostly women from single parent households on how to make our felt slippers. Some of these women are now working independently. The following is a testimony from one of these women currently employed with MIM in Ulaanbaatar city Mongolia.
One in every three Mongolians is struggling to survive in Ulaanbaatar, one of the coldest and most polluted capitals in the world. Most of them are children. Asral is an award-winning NGO established by Tibetan Lama Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche in 2001 with the support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to combat poverty. It is run by Mongolian women, primarily supporting single mothers and their children.
